XIDUS exists to empower justice-impacted individuals, families, and underserved communities by creating pathways to healing, education, workforce opportunity, and sustainable success. Through innovative programming, strategic partnerships, and holistic support, we help people move beyond their past, discover their purpose, and build thriving futures.
Our Story
XIDUS (Nonprofit)
A Movement for Liberation, Leadership & Healing
XIDUS was founded in 2024 by Dr. Lysa Liggins as the culmination of more than two decades of leadership, research, and service dedicated to strengthening individuals, organizations, and communities. Throughout her career in healthcare, higher education, nonprofit leadership, workforce development, and systems transformation, Dr. Liggins witnessed firsthand the barriers that prevent people—particularly justice-impacted individuals and underserved populations—from accessing meaningful opportunities. Inspired by both her professional experience and her doctoral research on reducing recidivism through social support, she established XIDUS to create pathways that empower people to rebuild their lives with purpose, dignity, and hope.
The name XIDUS stands for Crossing Into Discovery, Understanding, and Self, reflecting the organization's belief that transformation begins with self-discovery and is sustained through education, opportunity, and community. Today, XIDUS catalyzes personal and organizational growth by connecting individuals to workforce development, entrepreneurship, leadership training, educational resources, and strategic partnerships. Through innovative programming and collaborative solutions, XIDUS is committed to helping people move beyond barriers and into lives defined by purpose, resilience, and long-term success.
